How did the Intifada start?

In September 2000, after the collapse of negotiations at Camp David, Ariel Sharon, a mass murderer and war criminal, now the Israeli Prime Minister, announced that he was going to visit the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. The Mosque is the third holiest site in Islam and the source of some tension between Israel and the Palestinians – fanatical Israelis have tried to blow the mosque up in the past and a small but vocal group of Israelis want the mosque to be destroyed and rebuilt as the "Third Temple". It can immediately be seen that the visit of a man known to be a mass murderer of Palestinians would be provocative to say the least. Nevertheless Ehud Barak, then Israel’s Prime Minister, allowed it to happen.
